T & T Aviation was established in 2007. The goal was to produce a Light Sport Aircraft for the U.S. market. We partnered with Corvus Aircraft to utilize the outstanding design and quality of the composite airframe that was being used in Europe. However, we were convinced that the U.S. market would prefer an engine that the reliability and ease of maintenance was well established. For us, this was an easy choice “Lycoming”.
Our first aircraft completed the SLSA certification process on July 2nd,2008. This aircraft utilized a Lycoming 0235 engine. T & T intended to start marketing the aircraft, however, we decided that we would delay significant marketing until the new Lycoming IO233 would be available. During this period we have been busy making numerous improvements. We do not want to sell any aircraft until we are totally satisfied. We are almost there.
Lycoming was so impressed with our aircraft that they have selected us to perform the test flights with their new LSA engine IO233. It is anticipated that the installed weight of a IO233 will be 40 pounds lighter than the O235. We plan to have our aircraft displayed at the Lycoming tent at Oshkosh with a IO233 installed. Lycoming expects to authorize the flight tests to start shortly after Oshkosh. We anticipate to make the first delivery of aircraft with the IO233 during the first quarter of 2010.
Expect to hear some exciting news about T & T Aviation at the “Red Bull Air Races” later this year !!!!!
